چکیده

To meet future global oil and gas demands, unconventional gas resources will play an important role in the U.S and world energy supply. To develop unconventional gas resources, we must first identify their occurrences and quantify their potential. The analog methodology that provides supplementary analysis to characterize the less accessible reservoirs has been employed in the oil & gas industry for decades. However, current practices are based on subjective experiences of experts, and require substantial efforts to characterize and compare data. The objective of this project is to provide a basin analog system that is able to quickly and effectively identify the analogous reference basins (i.e., the selected North American basins that having significant unconventional gas development) for the target basins (i.e., the frontier basins with little exploration in unconventional gas reservoirs) so that we could use what we have learned in the reference basins to infer the unknown information in the target basin. As a complex system, it mainly consists of the analog method and the BASIN (Basin Analog Summary and INvestigation) software linking to a database that includes geologic and petroleum systems information from intensely studied North American basins.

The Theoretical and Experimental Investigation of the Effect of Variation of Thermodynamical Parameters of Egr fluid on No Emissions in S I Engines

Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) concept is the most simple and Abstract more economical method for NO pollutant reduction in spark ignition engines. However, when the higher amount of the EGR gas enters into the engine, the power, torque and fuel economy of the engine decrease. One effective solution for reduction of undesirable effect of this method is to use cooled EGR, that results in more r...

AN EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF GRAVITY DRAINAGE DURING IMMISCIBLE GAS INJECTION IN CARBONATE ROCKS UNDER RESERVOIR CONDITIONS

Gravity drainage is one of the important recovery mechanisms in fractured carbonate and conventional reservoirs. It occurs due to density difference between the gas in fracture and the oil in matrix as well as in conventional tilted reservoirs. Oil phase will form films which are produced under gravity forces (film flow). Many gas injection experiments have been done on laboratory scales with d...

An Estimation of Wave Attenuation Factor in Ultrasonic Assisted Gravity Drainage Process

It has been proved that ultrasonic energy can considerably increase the amount of oil recovery in an immiscible displacement process. Although many studies have been performed on investigating the roles of ultrasonic waves, based on the best of our knowledge, little attention has been paid to evaluate wave attenuation parameter, which is an important parameter in the determination of the energy...

Characterization of Liquid Bridge in Gas/Oil Gravity Drainage in Fractured Reservoirs

Gravity drainage is the main mechanism which controls the oil recovery from fractured reservoirs in both gas-cap drive and gas injection processes. The liquid bridge formed between two adjacent matrix blocks is responsible for capillary continuity phenomenon. The accurate determination of gas-liquid interface profile of liquid bridge is crucial to predict fracture capillary pressure precisely. ...
